Started working with his father in his embroidery manufacturing unit the Ali Embroidery Mills which he set up in 1972 Launched Sefam Pvt Ltd in 1984. Pioneer in textile chain retailing in Pakistan. First to introduce quality textile brands in Pakistan. Currently the largest chain of fashion retail outlets in Pakistan with 550 POS (Points of Sale), and 12 brands servicing men, women, children wear and home furnishings. Formed a company in Dubai to retail Sefam brands internationally in 1995. The first Pak- Textile brand to go international. Launched Sarena Textiles Industries in 2001, today a modern, vertically integrated factory cluster with weaving, dyeing, finishing, printing and garment manufacturing capabilities, one of the largest in its category in Pakistan.

Founder of the Zaman Foundation, actively involved in providing clean drinking water, housing construction, medical support, food rations, vocational training and educational scholarships to the under privileged since 2005. The first project was of making houses in Bagh (Azad Kashmir) in the aftermath of the 2005 earthquake. Started the Subsaath initiative to provide relief against Covid- 19 issues & benefited 18,000 families.
Played Bridge professionally between 1985 and 2001. Became national champions thrice during the same period and represented Pakistan at the World Bridge Olympiad in Maastricht, Holland in 2000. Organizer and sponsor of the All-Pakistan J.A. Zaman memorial Open Golf Tournament held annually since 2013.
Mr. Mohammad Raza Baqir has been serving as Executive Director and Secretary General Northern Zone APTMA since 2019. Before joining APTMA, he served in the Federal Government of Pakistan for well over 35 years.
During the long tenure in government service, he worked against key positions including Collector of Customs, Sales Tax and Federal Excise, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Member Federal Board of Revenue, Member Appellate Tribunal (IRS), Consul General of Pakistan at Sydney, Commercial Counsellor Copenhagen / Stockholm, Sr. Advisor Federal Insurance Ombudsman, Executive Director Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) and several other important positions. He holds Master’s Degree in English Literature and has successfully attended various Advance Courses in Management from Prestigious Institutions within the country and abroad like National School of Public Policy, NIPA, Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University) and Tax Institutions in UK, USA, Japan, Korea, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Belgium.
Mr. Tahir Basharat Cheema is an Energy Advisor at APTMA. A known name in the energy sector of Pakistan who held various important positions in the Government of Pakistan including Managing Director, PEPCO.

Engr Tahir Basharat Cheema former MD PEPCO is the fore- most Power Sector specialist in the Country with 45 years of hands down experience . He was the first DG Energy Management and also served as the Chairman Energy Management Office at the Ministry of Water & Power . He has been the President of both the IEEEP and the Institute of Engineers Pakistan . At one time ,he was the Project Director for the WAPDA International Technical University .
